ADVOCATE?HARBOUR Work should begin as early as this week to repair a seawall at Advocate Harbour.

Cumberland South MLA and Murray Scott said Friday he has talked to residents in the area and was told by officials from the Department of Agriculture that a surveyor was sent to the community to assess the damage caused by a fierce storm on Dec. 21.

The economic and rural development minister said the department told him repair work has been arranged through a local contractor.

The department is also looking at a long-term plan to ensure the problem is not repeated.

The storm washed away a long stretch of seawall that shields farmland, dykes and homes from some of the worlds largest tides, and damaged several cottages and homes.
