SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. A delegation of concerned citizens is asking the city of Summerside, P.E.I., to reconsider plans for a new wind farm development.

Spokesman Keith Tanton says there are too many questions about health and property issues for the plan to go ahead in its present form.

He says minimum setback distances for wind turbines in countries such as France can be as much as two kilometres while the Summerside plan could be as little as 400 metres.

He says in other jurisdictions, where giant wind farms have taken root, residents have complained of sleep problems, headaches, dizziness and other health issues.

Tanton has written council asking that members vote against a proposed rezoning and revisit the matter of site selection.
