The company has taken over the old Venture Lighting building which was vacated two years ago.

Atlantic Windows hopes to create up to 200 jobs in Amherst over the next several years and they're looking to fill about 10 production positions within the next couple of weeks.

"We will be assessing the needs of the markets every few months and hire accordingly," said company president Rob Miller.

The positions will be offering $9-$10 an hour to begin, but they can go up to $12.

Any experience in carpentry or related fields would be an asset but it's not required, he said.

The company is one of the largest window and door manufacturers in Eastern Canada, with exports to many countries around the world.

Atlantic Windows and Nova Scotia Business Inc. have also signed a 1.2 million dollar payroll rebate.
