Mounties drop both ends of soccer doubleheader to St. F.X.

SACKVILLE, N.B. - St. Francis Xavier swept a twinbill from the Mount Allison Mounties in Atlantic University Sport soccer action Sunday at MacAulay Field.
The X-Women handed the Mounties a 3-1 setback in the first game of the afternoon. St. F.X.'s Sarah Mitchell had the lone goal in the first half, coming in the 28th minute.
Allie Anderson made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute before the Mounties got on the board thanks to a Kailey Bower goal in the 81st minute.
Nicole MacNeil of the X-Women rounded out scoring five minutes later.
The X-Men blanked the Mounties 3-0 in the second game. Michael Marousek opened scoring in the 39th minute, and Kareem Henry added insurance goals in the 75th and 90th minute.
Andrew MacDonald recorded the shutout.
On Friday, the Mounties travelled to Wolfville to play Acadia. The men won 2-1, while the women lost 2-0.
Both Mount Allison clubs are near the top of the AUS standings through the first two weeks of the regular season. The men are tied with Dalhousie for second with seven points, one back of front-running New Brunswick. The women are 2-2 and tied for fourth with P.E.I., with six points. St F.X. leads the way at 3-0 for nine points.
Sara Laking and Bower are the top two goalscorers in the women's conference, with four and three, respectively. Iain MacLeod is tied with Marousek for the men's scoring lead with three goals.
The Mounties are home to the P.E.I. Panthers on Friday. The women start at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8:15 p.m.
