WENTWORTH - Ski Wentworth will see its hill upgrades put to good use at the end of the month when roughly 120 male and female athletes compete in a national competition.
Wentworth is host to the 2010 Canada Post Junior National Freestyle Ski Championships from Feb. 26 to 28.
Canada's top adrenalin-hungry athletes will be catching some big air during the competition, the first time Nova Scotia has played host to the annual championship.
Leslie Wilson, Ski Wentworth's general manager, said it's an exciting time in Wentworth these days.
"Our upgrades are incredible and we can't wait to see our new aerial and mogul terrain in action during the junior nationals," she said.
Over the five-day competition, the athletes, ranging from 13 to 18 years old, will participate in moguls, dual moguls, aerial/big air and slopestyle events.
Hilden's Charlie Stevens said he's pumped for the competition and is a regular freestyle skier at Wentworth.
"It's going to be really awesome to have so many good athletes competing in Wentworth and watching them in our new park," he said.
Stevens is hopeful he will be one of the fortunate athletes to represent Nova Scotia at the competition.
Ski Wentworth received extensive upgrades throughout the past year in preparation for the Canada Winter Games in 2011. Ski Wentworth will be host venue for freestyle and alpine skiing during the games.
Volunteers are still needed for the national competition and can register by visiting www.skiwentworth.ca.
