PARRSBORO - The local minor hockey community joined the family of the late Bo Lattie on Nov. 1 to pay tribute to former local hockey player, who lost his life in a car accident just over one year ago.

Debbie, Robert and Bobbie Rae Lattie, the parents and sister of Bo, presented the Bo Lattie Team Camaraderie Award in Bo's memory to local midget players Alysha Canning and Jake Guilderson, in front of a packed crowd of parents and players in the lobby of the Lions Arena.

"It's a great honour for me, because I played many years with Bo," said midget boys' coach Alex Matthews, who presented the award to Guilderson. "I loved him like a brother. He was a great hockey player, and an even greater friend. He was great and he's greatly missed."

The award will be presented each year to a male and a female player who best demonstrate enthusiasm in the sport of hockey and commitment to their team and team morale, based on attributes chosen by the Lattie family, who also donated individual plaques and $250 to each winner towards their minor hockey registration.

A large plaque with the names of winners from each year will be displayed at the Lions Arena, along with a photo of Bo Lattie from his first year of midget hockey in Parrsboro.
