SPRINGHILL - Springhill's own Jeff Bishop walked of the green at River Hills Golf and Country Club on July 9, as the 2010 Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA) Amateur Champion after a birdie on the first playoff hole gave him victory over Glenn Robinson from Ashburn.

After tying with Robinson at 72 holes it was the birdie on the par 4 hole that clinched the 2010 win for Bishop. Bishop sat six strokes off the lead when the day started, but he made them up by shooting +3 on the day. Glenn Robinson made up a three stroke deficit to move into the tie for first with by birdieing 11 and 13 on the back 9.

Four-time NSGA Men's Amateur Champion Leon Carter (Dundee) finished in third place with a +9.

Eric Banks (Truro), Luke Dempsey (Oakfield), Ryan Dixon (River Hills), and James Holland (Ken-Wo) teed off on 16. After a birdie by Banks clinched his spot, the other three golfers made par on the hole. On 17, James Holland made a birdie to clinch the second and final spot on the team and it moved to 18 to determine the alternate. There, Ryan Dixon made par to become the team alternate while Dempsey made an admirable bogey after landing in the hazard from his tee shot.

Dixon and Banks shot the two strongest rounds of the day to move themselves into contention. Ryan Dixon did his home club proud by shooting the lone sub-par round of the day, a spectacular 5-under 67 in high winds to move into the tie for 4th place. After shooting 1-under on Friday, Banks shot a +1 on Saturday, the second-best round of the day, to move into a tie for 4th and put himself on Team Nova Scotia.

Other team members that will be joining Bishop on the green as part of the 2010Nova Scotia Men's Amateur team are; Glenn Robinson, Eric Banks, James Holland and alternate Ryan Dixon.
