AMHERST - A Springhill man was given a conditional discharge following six months probation for harassing phone calls to a family member.
Richard Noiles has conditions and reporting to abide by after pleading guilty earlier in March to the charge.
Crown attorney Mary Ellen Nurse outlined the facts in provincial court on Monday to Judge Carole Beaton.
Noiles made 20 phone calls to his brother and brother's wife over the span of an hour in December.
"All the messages were quite derogatory," said Nurse, adding that Noiles admitted he was consistent with the calls when police spoke to him.
Noiles was given six months probation with reporting and conditions. Following a successful completion of the probationary period, Noiles was told he wouldn't have a record pertaining to the phone calls.
He has until April 29, 2010, to pay a victim fine surcharge of $50.
