AMHERST – Every Halloween hundreds of kids from throughout Amherst and the surrounding area collect candy on Winston Avenue, and this year was no exception.

Kids flocked to the street where the homes are packed tightly together and, thanks to the generosity of the people living on Winston Avenue, they don’t have to walk far before their bags are filled to the top.

Well amherstguy, we all know Halloween does happen in the rest of Amherst as well but maybe this article was written because of the sheer numbers of trick or treaters that invade Winston Ave starting as early as 4 pm (before some people are home from work)! This parade of over 400 plus kiddies, parents and sightseers is so intense that most people living there have to stay outdoors dishing out their treats or risk wearing their front door hinges out opening and closing it! These lil ghouls and goblins hit between 4 and 7:30 pm when with the exception of few houses everyone mostly runs out of treats. That street has numerous police on foot, police vehicles, fire trucks and other pumpkin patrols on constant surveillance! Is that worthy of a few words in the ADN....I think so! If you got over 400 trick or treaters maybe you should ask for equal billing for next year!
