The Road from Georgetown

WOLFVILLE – Earlier this month, 250 delegates from across Atlantic Canada gathered in the small community of Georgetown, PEI. Their purpose was simple: to look at ways to redefine their rural communities.

These “doers and producers” spent three days talking about what might be done and then returned to their communities, hoping to enact change.

The Kings County Advertiser and Register is hoping to help them on their way. Tonight, in co-operation with Acadia University, our papers will host a Roads from Georgetown forum at Acadia’s Beveridge Arts Centre, room 244, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

All interested conference participants are invited to speak and share a story from Georgetown or what their next step is on the “road from Georgetown,” with the idea of bringing the spirit of “rural redefined” back to their communities. A question and answer session will also be held.

The session will be open to the public.

This conference extends far beyond the borders of Kings County, however. Delegates from across Nova Scotia and our neighbouring provinces attended the event. To further the discussion, will be hosting an online live blog event on our website during the forum, beginning at 6:15 p.m. This Cover it Live event will also run on all other TC Media websites in Nova Scotia.

We invite you to join us at the forum or online on Oct. 24 to continue the discussion of rural redefined. Follow us on Twitter at KingsNSnews or join the discussion on our live blog to share your thoughts and ideas.
