Man arrested for sex offences in Springhill

SPRINGHILL – A 35 year-old Springhill man was arrested Saturday, October 19th for sex crimes and later released with conditions and a promise to appear in court.

Police News

When arrested, the man was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault. He was released with a promise to appear in court in December.

The arrest was part of the Springhill Police Services weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 18, where 12 incoming calls for assistance were received.

A minor accident took place on North Street involving a motorcycle. Shortly after 2 p.m Saturday the operator left the road and drove into a ditch, suffering minor injuries. Police and EHS responded by the driver was transported to All Saints Hospital by a friend and later released.


Break and enters

A pair of break and enters on Mechanic Street took place Sunday, Oct. 20, separated by only a few hours and even fewer civic addresses.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Springhill Police attended the scene of the first break and enter. The culprits gained access into the home through a back door and stole several items, including a laptop computer, several movies and DVD players. The matter is still under investigation and Forensic Identification services have searched the home.

The second break and enter took place at a nearby vacant home at approximately 7:50 p.m. Entry had be gained through an attached garage but nothing was taken.


Stolen items recovered

SPRINGHILL – Police are looking for the rightful owners of stolen property recovered during a botched robber.

On Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4:23 a.m., a concerned citizen noted two individuals inside his vehicle on an address on Princess Street. Police responded to the area and recovered a number of items believed stolen from other vehicles in the area.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in returning the stolen property to it's rightful owner by contacting Springhill Police at 597-3779 to set up an appointment to view and identify any items if you believe they have been stolen from your vehicle.
