HALIFAX - A 43-year-old man is facing charges of arson relating to a string of brush fires that were allegedly set deliberately in the north end.

Police say on Sunday, firefighters responded to a brush fire in the 3800 block of MacIntosh Street. Then on Monday, police say five more calls came in from the same area involving brush and dumpster fires.

All of the fires were quickly put out and there was no damage to any property. Investigators believed the fires were deliberately set and were looking to speak with a man seen in the area at the time two fires were lit.

On Tuesday evening, police say they responded to another brush fire, this time on Bayne Street, and a 43-year-old man was arrested after the area was cordoned off.

The man is charged with five counts of arson, along with attempted arson, mischief and possession of incendiary material.
