Amherst 50+ Club

Bridge Tournaments are a hit for the 50 Plus Club.  They are held on the last Wednesday of every month at noon.

They are popular cecause you not only get to play bridge, but you also get your lunch, and all for only $10.

This is only made possible through the efforts of Joyce McCollum and Gwen Hopper, and the girls in the kitchen.  OK, and Merrill too.

Some things to keep in mind, and to mark and to mark on your calendar are: the  Musical Evening on April 12, with Stephen Ripley.

This will be from 8 to 11 p.m., with a lunch afterward.

A goodwill offering to our building fund would be greatly appreciated.

Also, on April 26, will be our annual breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

You all know how good this is, so you don’ want to miss it, as no one goes away hungry.

And, back by popular demand, is our Spring Fashion Show. It will be held on May 10 at 2 p.m. There will be lots of door prizes and a Chinese auction.  Tickets are $10 and you want to get yours early because we sold out last year.

Call me, Joyce Porter, 661-4046, to get yours now.

Our Valentines Basket was won by Gloria Miller, and the ticket was drawn at our Pot Luck Supper on Feb. 15.

It was voted on to buy another big screen TV to raffle off during the summer.

Second prize will be a queen size quilt and pillow shams, and they will be drawn for at our Fall Fair in October.

We are also having dart tournaments on the first Saturday of every month.

Up till now, it has been members only, as we only have six boards.

When we get our extension, we will be able to open it up to more teams.

The last thing I’d like to mention is our bus trip to P.E.I. We started out trying to fill one bus, and ended up filling two of them.

We will be spending the day in P.E.I., and having lots of fun.

The buses will be leaving the club at 8:30 a.m., so you should be there by 8:15 a.m. since the buses will not wait. Please be on time.

Guess that is all for this time, and just like scoring darts, if I have made a mistake, someone will let me know.
