For over a quarter of a century, writer, producer and broadcaster Paul Romanuk has covered over 1,000 NHL an international hockey games in North America and Europe that have spanned the Stanley Cup finals, World Junior and World Hockey championships; the Spengler Cup, the Canada Cup, the World Cup and of course the Olympics. Along the way, he was written such books as the Scholastic Hockey Superstars series.

In the latest installment of the series, Romanuk profiles a healthy mix of established and up-and-coming NHL players that include cover boy Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Patrick Kane, Corey Crawford, Craig Anderson, Carey Price, Raphael Diaz, Patrik Elias, Tobias Enstrom, Taylor Hall, Nazem Kadri, Gabriel Landeskog, Brad Marchand, Daniel Sedin, Steven Stamkos, Thomas Vanek and Henrik Zetteberg.

In addition to providing succinct player biographies, statistics, facts and hockey memories for each of the aforementioned 17 NHL players, notwithstanding such end of season stats as final 2012-2013 NHL standings, points leaders and goalie leaders, Romanuk provides information about each of the NHL’s 30 teams ranging from team colours, home arena, team mascot and the number of Stanley Cups won.

As well, a variety of referee signals are explained, something that fans of all ages will find useful.  Such signals include boarding, charging, cross-checking, elbowing, high-sticking, holding, hooking, icing, interference, kneeing, misconduct, roughing, slashing, spearing, slow whistle, tripping, unsportsmanlike conduct and wash-out (goal not allowed).

Finally, the book contains an interactive element that allows fans to record information about their favourite NHL team while they predict and track who will win such coveted NHL awards as the Stanley Cup.
