Rummage sale

A rummage sale in support of the IWK children’s hospital will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Collingwood firehall. Sponsored by the Collingwood & Dist Vol Fire Dept. Ladies Auxilary.

Irish & Scottish music

Celtic Singers present and evening of music - traditional Irish & Scottish music and Nova Scotia favorites. 7:30 p.m. Malagash United Church, Malagash. Free will offering.

Musical Evening

The Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St. will hold a Musical Evening, starting at 8 p.m., with a light lunch at 11p.m.. Everyone 50 and over, welcome. Call 667-1058 for more info.

The R.C.A.F. Assoc. 105 Cumberland Wing,Havelock St. is having a “Let’s Support the Food bank” dart shoot starting at 1 p.m. Inquiries 667-9262.

An open mic musical evening will be held at the Diligent River Community Hall at 7 p.m.

Turkey Dinner

A turkey dinner will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Highland AME Church. 236 Church St., Amherst. Proceeds go to Heather Arseneault Scholarship Fund and Highland AME Church. Eat in or take out.


The Amherst Masonic Society will host a breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Masonic Temple, 20 Lawrence Street. Everyone welcomed.

Card parties will start at 7:30 p.m. at Fenwick Community Hall. Come one, come all.

Family Movie Night

The Amherst Library will be showing Tangled starring Mandy Moore, 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Rattletrap Car Fun for Families of Young Children. Grab the kids and come down to Maggie’s Place from 10 a.m. til noon for fun activities like how to make fizz fly. Call 667-7250 to register.

Quilt Show

Community Quilt Show at the Lorneville United Church from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Tea, Coffee & deserts and door prizes included. Anyone wishing to show their quilts please phone Carole Fullerton 661-4160, Sheila Hopper 667-4156 or Chris McCarthy 661-0424. Antique quilts welcomed. Proceeds go to the Lorneville United Church.

A young Amherst girl is hosting a book sale to raise money for the Relay for Life and Red Cross. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 7 Abbott Street, (behind Greco pizza) Amherst.

Spring concert

The Parrsboro Band Assc. will host its annual Spring Concert with the Parrsboro Band. Guest musicians and performers. This event will celebrate the life of long time bandmaster Bernie Burke with the dedication of the main auditorium in his honour. Free will donations at the door. Further details to be announced.


A cribbage tournament will be held at the Amherst 50+ Club, 52 Croft St.,at 1:30 p.m. Registration at 1 p.m. Please bring a partner.
